Lucky Street PS gets Honorable Mention

Lucky Street Parking Garage at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida earned an ‘Honorable Mention’ during the Florida Parking Association’s 1st Annual Awards Program.  This parking garage consists of 1,000,000 gsf of steel and a total construction cost of $30 million.

J&C/TRC expanded Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s existing 4,000 space parking lot with a new, seven-level, 2,300-space garage. The expanded facility covers more than 800,000 SF and features multi-directional speed-ramp access and six elevators.

As the Prime Design Consultant, J&C/TRC led a team consisting of a construction manager, an architect, MEP engineers, and a steel fabricator to provide structural engineering design, construction documents and construction administration. “The client’s demanding schedule mandated an extremely organized and well-coordinated team effort and all of the team members responded with their best effort,” said J&C/TRC CEO and overall Project Principal, Derek Wassink, P.E.

The project, completed in just 13 months, faced many challenges, including a zoo that was located within the garage footprint. Innovative design highlights include the construction of a world-record tilt-up wall. The 96’-6" wall, five feet taller than the previous world-record holder, was built only in a few days using the tilt-up process, saving time and money.

"Not only is our product first-class, it's now a world-record holder," said Mike Bloom, president of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
