Oak Hammock K-8 Elementary/Middle School
Port St. Lucie, Florida

TRC Worldwide Engineering, Inc. provided structural engineering design, contract administration and threshold inspection services on this new 220,000 square foot, 1,600-student K-8 hybrid elementary / middle school. The “school within a school” concept incorporates elements from the State of Florida “Discovery” school plan. The two-story, five-building campus provides separate classroom and support facilities but shared core facilities – gymnasium, courtyard, media center and cafetorium. Operable walls create flexible learning areas. Located on 8 acres, it includes a soccer field, basketball courts, play courts, student drop-off area, and visitor parking to accommodate 200 vehicles. The cafetorium was designed as an Enhanced Hurricane Protection area (EHPA).
